Aquifer Protection Regulations

Manchester, CT - October 28, 2009 - The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Town of Manchester, will present a workshop free of charge at 8 am, on Friday, November 13, at the office of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, 20 Hartford Road, Manchester, CT. Matthew R. Bordeaux, Environmental Planner/Wetlands Agent for the Town of Manchester will explain the newly adopted Aquifer Protection Regulations based on the State Department of Environmental Protection Model Municipal Regulations as required by State Statutes to protect the groundwater supply from pollution. Questions and answers will follow the presentation.

There are 132 businesses in the Manchester area that could have to register with the Town. Facilities where regulated activities are conducted must be registered with the Town Aquifer Protection Agency by December 13, 2009 in order to continue to operate.

The new regulations represent a State-wide initiative to increase protection of wells that are part of the public water supply.

Chamber membership is not required to attend this important workshop which is presented free of charge, but reservations are required as seating is limited. Reservations should be made prior to Wednesday, November 11, by calling the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce at 860 646-2223.
