EPIC - Empowering People, Inspiring Change
Originally created as a young professionals networking and leadership development group, EPIC has "grown up" into a monthly after hours networking event with a focus in community involvement. EPIC strives to help as many members as possible experience the incredible joy that comes from investing in their community. Assisting various non-profits, EPIC has collected food, toys, and clothing in donations and continues to create awareness by inviting non-profits to be present at each EPIC event. Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement Day, or JA Day, is a chance for local entrepreneurs to get in touch and educate students - or perhaps learn a thing or two themselves - about business. The JA curriculum focuses on educating students about entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness, among other things. Students learn through six interactive sessions during the school day, which includes playing fun, educational games such as Jeopardy, designing a business plan, and participating in a mock auction to buy a business. The Chamber is so proud of the members who take the time to provide this experience to the youth of Manchester.

Downtown Special Services District Commissions
The Manchester Planning and Economic Development Department offers support for economic development activity, business relocation and expansion and job growth in the Town of Manchester, Connecticut. The Downtown Manchester Special Services District (DMSSD) is a special downtown taxing district created in 1991 under Chapter 105A of the Connecticut General Statues to promote the economic and general welfare of the citizens of Manchester and especially the property owners and tenants of the downtown district. Property owners pay an additional mill rate on real property that is set annually. These additional funds are set-aside to be used to manage, maintain and promote the District.

The future of our community lies in our students. These students are our future business owners, Town leaders and workforce and that's why the support of educational programs is at the top of our list of priorities. Each month the Chamber seeks members from different industries to speak with students about their journey in their prospective industries. They provide information about what future education is required, the responsibilities of the position, skills required and also take questions from the students. So far, the industries represented throughout this year have been IT, Web Design, Social Media, Culinary, Public Safety, Technology & Manufacturing and Medical. Thank you to all members and Public Safety Officers who have participated so far.
Giving Back at the "Help Bag Hunger" Event
The "Help Bag Hunger" event held in the fall at ShopRite Manchester sees community leaders, dignitaries and local Police Dept. bagging groceries at checkout to help raise awareness of the issue of hunger in our community. The Chamber's very own April and Amy got in on the action and gave back to the community by slipping on the apron and asking those three famous words..."paper or plastic?"
